Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed officials to adopt electric vehicles across government departments as part of the state’s efforts to reduce pollution and promote sustainable transportation.

During a review meeting with officials from the transport and roads and buildings departments the Chief Minister instructed that only electric vehicles should be purchased for government use in the future. The move is aimed at encouraging eco friendly mobility and lowering emissions in urban areas.

The directive also applies to vehicles hired by government departments in the Core Urban Region which mainly includes the Hyderabad metropolitan area. Authorities have been asked to ensure that only electric vehicles are used for official purposes within this region.

Officials said the decision reflects the government’s commitment to promoting clean energy solutions and reducing the environmental impact of transportation in the state capital.

Along with the focus on electric vehicles the Chief Minister also emphasized the importance of road safety awareness. He suggested producing short films and broadcasting them widely to educate the public about responsible driving and safety measures on roads.

The meeting also discussed infrastructure development related to transportation. The Chief Minister asked officials to prepare detailed plans for building a modern bus terminal at Shamshabad.

This proposed terminal is expected to become an important transportation hub especially as plans are underway to develop a high speed rail corridor passing through the region.

According to officials future high speed rail routes connecting Hyderabad with major cities such as Pune Bengaluru and Chennai are being considered. These projects aim to improve connectivity and strengthen transportation infrastructure in the region.

Authorities believe that the combination of electric mobility promotion and modern transportation infrastructure will play a key role in shaping a cleaner and more efficient urban transport system for Telangana in the coming years.
