The Telangana government has taken a key administrative decision by extending the tenure of the Media Academy Chairman. Senior journalist K Srinivas Reddy will continue in the role for an additional two years, according to official orders issued on Tuesday.

K Srinivas Reddy was initially appointed as Chairman of the Telangana Media Academy on February 26 2024 for a two year term after the Congress government assumed office. His continuation reflects the government’s confidence in his leadership and contributions to the journalism sector.

Officials said the extension was granted in recognition of his long standing experience in journalism and his efforts toward improving the welfare of working journalists across the state. During his tenure, several initiatives related to accreditation housing support health cards and welfare schemes have been taken forward.

With the renewed term, Srinivas Reddy is expected to play a crucial role in further strengthening institutional support for journalists and ensuring smoother implementation of welfare programmes. The government believes stability in leadership will help address pending issues faced by media professionals.

The decision has been welcomed by sections of the journalist community, who see it as a step toward continuity and focused policy execution in the media sector.
