Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla Takes Oath in Telugu at Raj Bhavan

Telangana witnessed a significant political moment as Shiv Pratap Shukla officially assumed office as the new Telangana Governor during a formal ceremony held in Hyderabad. The oath taking event took place at Raj Bhavan in the presence of several senior political leaders and officials.

The oath of office was administered by Telangana High Court Chief Justice Apares Kumar Singh. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy along with ministers legislators and senior government officials attended the ceremony marking the beginning of the new governor’s tenure.

One of the most notable aspects of the event was that Shiv Pratap Shukla read the entire oath in Telugu. Unlike many previous governors who used other languages for the oath Shukla’s decision to deliver the oath in Telugu drew attention and appreciation during the ceremony.

Shiv Pratap Shukla originally belongs to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and is a trained lawyer by profession. However after entering politics he gradually moved away from his legal practice and dedicated himself fully to public service.

He has been associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party since its early years and played an active role in the party’s growth. His political career includes long years of legislative experience as well as leadership responsibilities.

From 1989 to 2012 he served multiple terms as a Member of the Legislative Assembly representing the Gorakhpur Rural constituency. During the first Bharatiya Janata Party government formed in Uttar Pradesh he also served as a minister.

Apart from ministerial responsibilities he also held key organizational positions within the party at the state level. His experience in governance and administration later led to his election to the Rajya Sabha in 2016.

Between September 2017 and May 2019 he served as Minister of State for Finance in the central government. During this period he worked on several financial and policy related initiatives.

Before his appointment in Telangana he served as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh starting from February 13 2023. As part of the recent reshuffle of governors he was transferred from Himachal Pradesh to Telangana.

Known as a thoughtful leader and scholar Shiv Pratap Shukla has earned recognition for his work in public life and his focus on social welfare including efforts aimed at supporting economically weaker communities.
