A severe heatwave is tightening its grip across Telangana, with temperatures rising sharply and expected to touch 45 degrees Celsius over the next few days. The weather department has issued orange alerts for several districts, warning residents to stay cautious amid extreme heat conditions.

On Wednesday, multiple regions recorded high temperatures crossing 43 degrees. Nirmal and Nizamabad districts reported around 43.5 degrees Celsius, while several other areas saw similar intense heat levels. Officials from the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre have indicated that the coming three days could see further rise in temperatures.

Districts including Adilabad, Khammam, Medak, Medchal Malkajgiri, Hyderabad, Mahabubnagar, and Nizamabad are expected to experience severe heat conditions. Hot winds are also likely in parts of Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal, adding to public discomfort and health risks.

Amid the rising temperatures, the state health department has issued a detailed advisory to protect people from heat related illnesses. Authorities have directed government hospitals to prepare for a possible surge in heatstroke and dehydration cases by arranging beds, IV fluids, and essential medicines.

To strengthen preventive measures, ORS distribution is being intensified at the grassroots level through health workers including ANMs, ASHA staff, and Anganwadi teams. These efforts aim to reduce the risk of dehydration, especially among vulnerable populations.

Residents have been strongly advised to avoid stepping out between 12 pm and 3 pm unless absolutely necessary. If going outdoors, individuals are urged to use protective measures such as caps, umbrellas, or cloth coverings to minimize direct exposure to sunlight.

Health experts also recommend drinking sufficient water regularly even without feeling thirsty. Consumption of fluids like buttermilk and lemon water is encouraged, while oily and spicy foods should be avoided in favor of light and easily digestible meals.

Symptoms such as dizziness, high body temperature, vomiting, rapid heartbeat, or fainting should not be ignored. Officials advise immediate medical attention at the nearest government hospital if any such signs appear.

With temperatures continuing to rise, authorities are urging the public to remain alert and take preventive steps to stay safe during the ongoing heatwave across Telangana.
