Telangana Introduces Major Changes in Fee Reimbursement Scheme

The Telangana government has introduced significant changes to the fee reimbursement system aimed at improving transparency and ensuring direct benefit transfers to students. Under the revised process, fee reimbursement amounts will now be credited directly into students’ bank accounts instead of being routed through colleges.
Officials said the new system will apply not only to SC students but also to students belonging to ST, BC and minority communities. Authorities believe the direct transfer model will reduce delays and improve financial access for eligible students.
As part of the updated rules, students must ensure that the details on their Aadhaar card exactly match the information mentioned in their Class 10 certificate. Officials clarified that even minor differences in name or surname could prevent the online application from moving forward.
Students have been advised to correct any discrepancies in Aadhaar details during the summer holidays by visiting Aadhaar enrolment centres. The government is implementing the verification process strictly in line with national standards.
To receive the reimbursement amount smoothly, students must also link their Aadhaar number with their bank account and mobile number. Officials stated that Aadhaar linked mobile numbers are necessary to complete OTP based verification during the application process.
Both fresh applicants and students applying for renewal must first enter their 10th class hall ticket number online. After successful verification of records, they will be required to complete biometric authentication at Mee Seva centres.
The Telangana government is reportedly spending around Rs 2400 crore under the scheme to support nearly 12 lakh students across the state. During the review process, authorities found that close to 20 percent of student applications contained mismatched or incorrect details.
Officials urged students to complete all corrections and verification formalities before the beginning of the 2026 and 27 academic year to avoid delays in receiving reimbursement benefits.
