The Telangana government has announced major progress in its grain procurement drive, stating that large scale purchasing operations are underway across the state to support farmers and ensure smooth procurement during the agricultural season.

According to Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, the state has already transferred Rs 8749 crore directly into the bank accounts of farmers as part of procurement payments. He stated that the government has been working to ensure farmers receive support without delays.

Officials said thousands of procurement centers have been set up across Telangana to speed up the process and reduce difficulties for farmers bringing their produce to collection points. Large quantities of grain have already been procured, while arrangements are continuing for pending stock.

The minister also criticized policies of the central government and alleged that several decisions have increased financial pressure on the farming community. He claimed rising fuel prices have added to agricultural expenses, affecting transportation and cultivation costs for farmers.

He further stated that the state had moved ahead with a larger procurement target to avoid inconvenience to farmers despite challenges related to approval limits. According to him, additional arrangements were made to handle grain collection on a broader scale.

The government also said adequate logistics support including storage arrangements and supply materials had been made available to prevent disruptions. Authorities believe the ongoing procurement exercise will help farmers receive payments quickly and maintain stability during the harvest season.
