Public transport across Telangana has been severely hit as the ongoing RTC strike brought bus operations to a near standstill, leaving thousands of commuters struggling to find alternatives.

The strike began after talks between the government and RTC workers failed to reach a resolution, prompting employees to stop services from midnight. As a result, buses remained parked inside depots across the state, with police deployed to maintain order at key locations.

In several districts, the impact was clearly visible. Hundreds of buses did not move from depots, disrupting daily travel routines. In some areas, authorities arranged limited alternative services, but these fell short of meeting passenger demand.

Commuters were forced to depend on private vehicles and other modes of transport, often paying higher fares. Many expressed frustration as the sudden disruption affected work schedules, education and essential travel.

Protests by RTC workers were reported at multiple depots, where employees gathered to voice their concerns. The situation remained tense but largely under control due to security arrangements.

Meanwhile, officials indicated that the government is open to addressing the issues raised by workers in a phased manner. However, they also alleged that certain groups were misleading employees, complicating efforts to reach a quick resolution.

With no immediate breakthrough in sight, the RTC strike continues to affect daily life, highlighting the crucial role of public transport in the state’s routine functioning.
