The Telangana education department has announced a new schedule for schools as summer temperatures begin to rise across the state. Under the Telangana Single Session Schools plan all schools will operate with reduced hours to ensure student safety during the hot season.

According to official orders issued by the Director of School Education the new timetable will come into effect from March 15 and will remain in force until the last working day of the academic year.

Under the Telangana Single Session Schools schedule classes will begin at 8 in the morning and conclude at 12.30 in the afternoon. After classes end students will be served the midday meal before leaving for the day.

The decision applies to all categories of schools across the state including government schools government aided institutions and private schools. Primary upper primary and high schools will follow the same schedule.

Education officials explained that the change was necessary because temperatures have been rising earlier in the day making it difficult for students to attend regular full day classes.

Special arrangements have also been made for students preparing for Class 10 public examinations. Extra coaching sessions and exam preparation classes for these students will continue as planned.

In schools that are designated as examination centers for the SSC exams the schedule will be slightly different on exam days. These schools will operate from 1 in the afternoon to 5 in the evening when examinations are conducted.

On days when exams are not scheduled those same schools will follow the Telangana Single Session Schools timetable just like other institutions across the state.

The government has instructed regional education officers and district education authorities to ensure strict implementation of the new schedule.

Officials also warned that any school management failing to follow the Telangana Single Session Schools guidelines may face action under the education department rules.

Authorities believe the new schedule will help students avoid exposure to extreme heat while allowing schools to complete the remaining academic activities safely before the summer holidays.
