The Telangana government has stepped up efforts to streamline paddy transportation across the state as procurement activities continue on a large scale. The Transport Department has instructed district officials to ensure uninterrupted movement of goods vehicles carrying paddy from procurement centres to storage facilities and rice mills.
Officials were directed to work closely with district administrations and civil supplies authorities to avoid delays in vehicle deployment. The department stressed the need for timely coordination so that transport arrangements match the increasing procurement demand during the ongoing season.
Transport Commissioner K. Ilambarithi asked district transport officers to maintain regular monitoring of transportation operations and resolve logistical issues without delay. Officials were also told to submit periodic compliance and status reports regarding vehicle movement and transport management.
The department further instructed that all vehicles involved in paddy transportation must carry valid documents, including registration certificates, permits, insurance papers, pollution certificates, fitness certificates and valid driving licences. Authorities were advised to strictly verify compliance before deployment.
The latest directions were issued after the Civil Supplies Department informed the Transport Department about the extensive paddy procurement activities taking place across Telangana. To prevent disruption in supply chain operations, support was sought for arranging adequate transport vehicles and ensuring smooth movement on roads.
The government aims to avoid transportation bottlenecks during the peak procurement period and ensure that paddy collected from farmers reaches designated storage points and rice mills without delay.
