The Telangana Transport Department has introduced a new system to make the vehicle registration process faster and more transparent. Officials announced that vehicle registration in Telangana will now be handled completely through an online process to prevent delays that many vehicle owners have been facing.
Transport Commissioner K Ilambarithi issued orders stating that the revised system will come into effect immediately. The department has also set a strict deadline for vehicle dealers to upload all required registration documents within seven days after issuing a temporary registration.
Authorities explained that this decision was taken after several complaints about delays in permanent vehicle registrations. In many cases, the process was taking three to four weeks to complete, creating inconvenience for new vehicle owners across the state.
Earlier, temporary registrations for vehicles such as cars and two wheelers were issued directly at showrooms while permanent registrations were completed later at Regional Transport Office counters. To make the process easier the government had allowed permanent registration to be handled at the showroom itself.
However delays continued because some dealers submitted physical documents to transport offices while uploading other details later. The process often slowed down due to the manual handling of Form 20 and other paperwork.
Under the new system vehicle dealers must upload scanned copies of Form 20 signed by the vehicle owner and the financer along with other necessary documents through the online portal. Transport department officials will then verify the applications and respond within two working days.
Officials will either approve the application or return it to the dealer for corrections within that period. This system is expected to reduce processing time and ensure faster completion of vehicle registrations.
The department has also clarified that physical documents for permanent vehicle registration will no longer be accepted after March 13. All submissions must be done through the online portal.
Authorities have warned dealers that strict action will be taken if any fake or forged documents are submitted. If the required documents are not uploaded within seven days the dealer login access to the transport department portal may be suspended until the issue is resolved.
Officials believe the fully online vehicle registration process in Telangana will improve transparency reduce delays and make the system more convenient for vehicle owners and dealers across the state.
