Tension prevailed near the ZP Center in Khammam after police arrested Jagriti president Kavitha while she was staging a protest over the issue of Velugumatla victims. The incident drew attention as several activists and leaders gathered at the location.

Before the protest Kavitha had visited the affected families in Velugumatla village to understand their situation. After interacting with the victims she expressed deep concern about their condition and said their pain and suffering were deeply disturbing.

While addressing people she criticized political parties and accused them of ignoring the struggles of poor families. She alleged that houses belonging to the victims were demolished earlier and said political leaders were now trying to distance themselves from responsibility.

Kavitha demanded that the government immediately respond to the issue and ensure justice for the affected families. She insisted that new houses should be constructed for the victims at the same place where their homes were demolished.

The Jagriti leader also said the demolitions had taken place during a sensitive time when children were preparing for examinations. According to her several families were left distressed after their homes were reportedly brought down suddenly.

As the protest intensified near the Khammam ZP Center police intervened and arrested Kavitha along with BC SC ST JAC chairman Visharadhan Maharaj and several Jagriti activists. They were taken into custody by Khammam Three Town police.

Kavitha stated that her visit was meant to listen to the victims and raise their concerns with the government. She assured the affected families that Jagriti along with various social organizations would continue to support them until a proper solution is found.
