- Lower prices aim to boost ridership.
Hyderabad commuters have reason to smile as TGSRTC has reduced ticket fares on AC buses operating within the city. The decision is aimed at making summer travel more comfortable and affordable for daily passengers.
With temperatures climbing and humidity setting in, many commuters prefer air conditioned buses but often avoid them due to higher fares. Officials said the fare reduction is expected to ease the financial burden and encourage more people to opt for AC services during peak summer months.
As per the revised pricing, Metro Deluxe AC buses will now charge Rs 25 for every four kilometres instead of the earlier Rs 30. In E Metro AC buses, the fare for four kilometres has been cut from Rs 35 to Rs 25, offering passengers a significant saving.
The transport corporation noted that AC bus occupancy was hovering around 60 percent due to high ticket prices. By lowering fares, TGSRTC hopes to increase occupancy while ensuring passengers enjoy a cooler and smoother ride through the city.
The reduced fares will benefit short and long distance commuters alike. Depending on travel distance, passengers can save between Rs 5 and Rs 15 per trip. Currently, 275 Metro Deluxe AC buses and 90 electric AC buses operate within GHMC limits, all of which will follow the new pricing.
