Warangal Mamnoor Airport to Open Within a Year as Construction Gains Pace.

- Warangal Mamnoor airport work is progressing rapidly.
- Commercial flight services are expected within one year.
- Air connectivity will drive regional growth and tourism.
Warangal is preparing for a major infrastructure upgrade as the Mamnoor airport moves steadily toward becoming fully operational. With the detailed project report now ready and under review by the central government, officials are confident that final approval will arrive soon, clearing the way for rapid execution.
Once clearance is granted, the Airports Authority of India plans to complete construction within a year. The project aims to transform the existing airstrip into a full scale commercial airport capable of handling regular passenger traffic. This development is expected to reduce dependence on Hyderabad for air travel and offer direct access from Warangal to major cities.
Authorities have already completed land acquisition for the airport. Around 950 acres were earmarked earlier, with an additional 253 acres handed over to support expansion and safety requirements. The upgraded runway will be extended to nearly three kilometers, allowing medium and large aircraft to land smoothly.
Along with the runway, the airport will feature a modern passenger terminal, cargo handling facilities, enhanced security systems, parking zones and improved road connectivity. Initial operations are likely to begin with small and mid size aircraft, followed by limited daily services as demand grows.
The Mamnoor airport is expected to act as a catalyst for regional development. Improved connectivity could attract new industries, boost IT investments and significantly strengthen tourism. Heritage sites such as Ramappa Temple, Warangal Fort and the Thousand Pillar Temple are likely to see increased domestic and international footfall.
With plans also underway for additional airports in Ramagundam, Peddapalli and Kothagudem, Telangana is positioning itself for a broader aviation push. For Warangal, the Mamnoor airport marks a long awaited step toward economic expansion and better access to the rest of the country.
