A tragic incident in Telangana’s Mahabubabad district has left a family devastated after a 20 year old youth died by suicide following a dispute over a mobile phone. The incident occurred in Chintalapalli village under Thorrur mandal and has triggered emotional reactions among local residents.
According to police officials, the deceased, identified as Sai Kumar, had been asking his parents to buy him a new cellphone after his old device was damaged recently. Family members reportedly told him they were unable to afford a replacement immediately because of their poor financial condition.
Police said Sai Kumar had allegedly developed a habit of consuming alcohol over the past few months. On Friday night, he reportedly returned home after drinking and once again argued with his parents over the phone issue. His parents, who work as daily wage labourers, tried to convince him to wait for some more time before purchasing a new device.
Later in the night, while the family was asleep, the young man allegedly died by suicide inside the house. Family members discovered the incident the following morning, leaving the household in deep shock and grief.
After receiving information, Thorrur police reached the spot and began an investigation. The body was shifted to a government hospital for postmortem examination, and a case has been registered.
The incident has sparked discussion in the area about emotional distress, financial pressure, and the growing influence of mobile phone dependency among youth. Residents said the sudden loss has deeply affected the family and the local community.
