Bengaluru has taken a fresh step toward strengthening its tourism appeal with the launch of London style double decker tourist buses designed to offer visitors a new way to explore the city. The service was inaugurated near Ravindra Kalakshetra, marking the beginning of a structured sightseeing experience within the capital.
Tourism and Law Minister H K Patil said the initiative aims to reposition Bengaluru not just as an IT hub but also as a destination rich in history culture and architecture. Despite having several iconic landmarks the city had not been promoted effectively as a tourist destination in the past he noted.
The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation plans to operate three Ambaari double decker buses within the city. These buses are specially designed to avoid flyovers underpasses and skywalks ensuring smooth movement and passenger safety along the selected route.
One of the highlights of the service is the renewed focus on Vidhana Soudha. Often seen only as a government building the landmark is now expected to gain stronger tourism visibility through this guided bus journey showcasing its architectural significance.
The route begins at Ravindra Kalakshetra and passes through Hudson Circle Kasturba Road Kanteerava Stadium Visvesvaraya Museum Chinnaswamy Stadium General Post Office Karnataka High Court Vidhana Soudha and KR Circle before returning to the starting point.
Officials recalled that a similar service had been attempted earlier but was discontinued due to issues such as low hanging cables and tree branches. This time authorities say route planning and infrastructure assessment have been carefully addressed.
Tourists can book tickets in advance through the tourism department website. Each ticket is priced at 180 rupees and the buses will operate daily from 10.30 am to 8 pm offering flexible options for visitors throughout the day.
