Bengaluru: Serious allegations of misconduct at Bengaluru airport have sparked concern after a Korean woman accused a security staff member of sexual harassment during a routine screening process. The incident has brought airport safety protocols under sharp focus.
According to the complaint, the accused has been identified as Mohammed Afan Ahmed, an airport staffer. The woman stated that she was stopped during check in over alleged issues with her ticket and luggage and was told further verification was required.
The woman alleged that under the pretext of additional checks, she was taken to a male restroom where the staff member behaved inappropriately. She reportedly objected to the screening method, but the staff member completed the process and left, saying the check was over.
Soon after the incident, the woman informed airport security officials about the alleged harassment. Authorities reviewed CCTV footage from the airport premises, which reportedly supported her version of events, leading to the immediate arrest of the accused by airport police.
A formal case has been registered under BNS Section 75, covering sexual harassment and assault. Investigators are now examining the accused’s work background, possible previous complaints, and whether similar incidents may have occurred earlier.
The incident has highlighted potential gaps in airport screening procedures and staff oversight. It has also prompted calls for stricter monitoring, improved training, and stronger safeguards to ensure the safety of international passengers traveling through Bengaluru airport.
