Bengaluru: What began as a cheerful early morning drive among friends ended in unimaginable grief on Friday in Bengaluru Rural district. A devastating road crash near Hoskote claimed seven lives on the spot, leaving families shattered and a community in shock.

The accident occurred on the newly developed Hoskote Dabaspete national highway when an SUV carrying six students collided in a chain crash involving a canter and a motorcycle. The impact was so severe that all six occupants of the car along with the bike rider died instantly.

Police officials said preliminary findings point to overspeeding as the likely cause of the tragedy. The SUV involved in the accident was reportedly owned by one of the students. The group had set out together at dawn for what they described as a joyride, unaware that it would be their last journey.

Those who lost their lives include Ashwin Nair aged 17 a student of RV PU College from Kothanur, Arhan Sharif of CMR School from HVR Layout, Ayan Ali aged 17 also from CMR School, Bharath aged 18 a CMR College student from Frazer Town, Ethan George aged 17 from RV First PU College in Hulimavu, and another teenager Farhan aged 17. The bike rider, Gagan aged 26, was an employee at a private firm and was reportedly heading to work when the accident occurred.

Local residents and police rushed to the scene immediately after receiving information about the crash. Despite rescue efforts, the victims had already succumbed to their injuries due to the intensity of the collision.

Superintendent of Police Chandrakant and his team inspected the accident site. For the parents of the young students, the news arrived early in the morning like a nightmare they could not wake up from. Many had seen their children leave home just hours earlier, never imagining it would be their final goodbye. The grief stricken families were inconsolable as they struggled to come to terms with the sudden loss.

The tragedy also claimed the life of Gagan, who had simply set out for work and found himself in the path of disaster. The incident has once again raised concerns about speeding on newly developed highways and the need for stricter road safety awareness among young drivers.
