TGSRTC Strike Threat Returns as Workers Set March Deadline for Demands

TGSRTC workers warn of a fresh strike as talks stall over merger wages and dues. Unions have set a March deadline urging the government to resolve long pending issues immediately.

  • TGSRTC strike deadline announced.
  • Workers demand merger and wage revision.
  • Commuters fear service disruption.

The possibility of another disruption to bus services is looming as TGSRTC employees step up pressure on the government. With key demands remaining unresolved, worker unions have announced a deadline and warned of a strike if there is no response.

Under the banner of the Joint Action Committee, thousands of workers staged a protest at Indira Park in Hyderabad, signalling growing frustration. Union leaders said repeated appeals to the government have failed to yield firm assurances on issues affecting livelihoods and job security.

The core demand remains the merger of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation with the government. Employees are also seeking implementation of a long pending pay revision, immediate release of delayed dues including DA and PF, and recruitment to fill vacant posts to ease workload pressure on drivers and conductors.

Workers have warned that if their demands are not addressed by March 13, they will serve a formal strike notice. A full scale strike may follow after March 18, according to union representatives, unless meaningful talks begin before then.

A strike could severely impact daily commuters, students and employees who rely on RTC buses across the state. Many passengers are hoping the government will intervene quickly and open dialogue with unions to avoid inconvenience and reach a negotiated settlement.
