Warangal is gearing up for a rare scientific spectacle as the Rudrama V1 rocket is set to soar into the sky on February 28 to mark National Science Day. The launch will take place at Bhadrakali Bund, drawing students and science enthusiasts from across the region.
Ahead of the main event, a trial run is scheduled on Friday morning at 11 am to ensure all systems are in place. Officials have been closely monitoring preparations to guarantee safety and smooth execution.
Hanumakonda Collector Chahat Bajpai reviewed arrangements during a coordination meeting held at the KUDA office. The session brought together rocket designer Shashank Bhupathi, NIT professor Anjan Kumar and officials from police, revenue, municipal and development departments. Authorities discussed crowd management, security and technical readiness.
The main rocket launch is planned for Saturday evening at 5.30 pm at Bhadrakali Bund. Organisers have decided to allow free entry for students and visitors from 4 pm onwards so they can witness the moment up close.
As part of the celebrations, an educational programme will be conducted at Kaloji Kala Kshetram earlier in the day. Between 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm, Planetary Society of India founder secretary and director N Raghunandan Kumar along with retired ISRO scientist Dr Sheshagiri Rao will deliver lectures explaining the science and technology behind rocket launches.
Officials believe the Rudrama V1 rocket event will inspire young minds and promote interest in space science. With National Science Day providing the perfect backdrop, the launch is expected to create excitement among students who rarely get an opportunity to watch such demonstrations live.
Local authorities including KUDA and district officials have coordinated extensively to ensure the event becomes both safe and memorable. For many students in Warangal, this could be their first close encounter with real world rocket technology.
