Telangana government proposes TG 10th Class Pass Marks at 45, higher education pass marks at 50 percent, exam cancellations and phased reforms from 2027 to improve standards statewide.

- TG 10th Class Pass Marks increased to 45 for students.
- Higher education pass marks likely to rise to 50 percent.
- 11th board exams and EAPCET may be cancelled.
In a significant move aimed at strengthening academic standards, the Telangana government is preparing to revise the TG 10th Class Pass Marks, raising the minimum requirement from 35 to 45 marks. The proposal is part of a broader reform plan designed to improve learning outcomes and encourage serious academic commitment among students.
According to recommendations made by the state education commission, pass marks in higher education courses may also be increased to 50 percent. Officials believe that higher benchmarks will not only boost competition but also help students gain stronger subject knowledge before moving into advanced studies or professional courses.
The reforms are expected to be implemented in phases beginning in 2027. Education department sources indicate that the gradual rollout will give schools, teachers and students enough time to adapt to the new standards without sudden disruption.
In another major shift, the government is considering cancelling the 11th class board examinations to reduce academic pressure. Alongside this, the Engineering Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test EAPCET may also be withdrawn. If approved, admissions into professional courses would be based solely on Intermediate marks, which officials say could simplify the process and ease student stress.
The commission has also suggested extending the Right to Education coverage up to 18 years of age, ensuring broader access to compulsory education. This recommendation is seen as a step toward strengthening the foundation of the state education system.
Changes are not limited to examinations. Schools will continue to implement English medium instruction while strictly following the three language formula. A new evaluation framework for teachers is also being planned to monitor performance regularly and improve classroom quality.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Telangana government hopes these reforms will bring measurable improvement in public school standards and reshape the academic environment across the state.
