Revanth Reddy Sets Firm Urban Governance Push Across Telangana Cities

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has intensified the focus on urban development by calling for swift and accountable action across cities and towns. During a high level review meeting at the Secretariat with senior municipal and urban development officials he made it clear that lapses in basic civic services would not be tolerated.
The Chief Minister stressed that urban governance must deliver visible improvements on the ground. He asked officials to accelerate works related to sanitation mosquito control and waste management while ensuring public awareness on proper garbage disposal. Technology driven solutions were encouraged to prevent delays and enable quick resolution of complaints through a strengthened dashboard based monitoring system.
A key directive involved modernising street lighting infrastructure. The Chief Minister instructed that every street light in core urban regions should be assigned a unique identification number and linked to an integrated command and control system to ensure real time monitoring and faster maintenance.
Food safety emerged as another priority area. Revanth Reddy ordered strict monitoring of hotels and restaurants with mandatory CCTV cameras inside kitchens connected to the central command centre. He also called for frequent inspections a dedicated monitoring wing and the introduction of a transparent rating and certification system to improve food quality standards.
Fire safety compliance in commercial and business complexes was also reviewed. Officials were directed to enforce regulations rigorously and adopt advanced equipment to enhance preparedness and response capabilities in urban areas.
Highlighting sustainable urban planning the Chief Minister proposed rainwater harvesting wells at major signal junctions and traffic circles in Hyderabad. He suggested launching pilot projects in selected locations to conserve rainwater and strengthen long term water management.
The government’s broader vision aims to transform Telangana cities through transparency technology adoption and public health focused governance. With firm instructions issued at the top level officials have been asked to ensure that urban development translates into safer cleaner and more resilient cities for residents.
