Farmers across Telangana who have been waiting for financial assistance under the Rythu Bharosa Scheme may soon receive relief. The state government has announced that the long awaited funds will be deposited into eligible farmers bank accounts in the coming weeks.
The Rythu Bharosa Scheme is designed to support farmers during crop cultivation by providing financial assistance every year. Under this program the government releases funds in two installments providing six thousand rupees per acre to eligible farmers.
Although the government earlier indicated that funds for the Rabi season would be credited in January the payments were delayed which led to growing concerns among farmers. For several months many farmers have been waiting for the release of the assistance.
Telangana Labour and Employment Minister Vivek Venkataswamy recently shared an update regarding the Rythu Bharosa Scheme funds. He said the government remains committed to farmer welfare and is preparing to release a total of nine thousand crore rupees to eligible beneficiaries.
According to the announcement the government plans to distribute the funds in two phases. Around four thousand five hundred crore rupees will be deposited in farmers accounts by the end of this month while the remaining amount will be credited in the following month.
The payments under the Rythu Bharosa Scheme are usually released in stages based on the size of land holdings. In the first phase farmers owning smaller land holdings generally receive the financial assistance earlier.
Reports indicate that farmers owning up to three acres may receive the funds during the last week of this month. Farmers who own up to four or five acres are expected to receive the payments in the first or second week of April.
The delay in releasing the Rythu Bharosa Scheme funds had also become a political issue in the state. Opposition parties including Bharatiya Janata Party and Bharat Rashtra Samithi had organized protests demanding immediate release of the financial support to farmers.
Following these demands the government appears to have accelerated the process and decided to distribute the funds in multiple phases instead of releasing the entire amount at once.
Officials believe that once the Rythu Bharosa Scheme payments reach farmers bank accounts it will provide timely financial support for agricultural activities during the current season and help ease the economic burden faced by many farming families.
