Indiramma Houses Alert: Strict Action on Misuse of Double Bedroom Housing in Telangana

Telangana government issues strict warning to Indiramma Houses and double bedroom housing beneficiaries, cautioning against misuse, rental violations, and delays while pushing faster completion and basic facilities across urban regions.

  • Indiramma Houses misuse will lead to cancellation of allotment
  • Double bedroom housing cannot be rented or kept vacant
  • Telangana government orders strict inspections and completion drive

The Telangana government has issued a strong warning to beneficiaries of Indiramma Houses and double bedroom housing schemes, making it clear that any misuse will result in cancellation of allotments. Officials have noticed several cases where houses were either rented out or left vacant, prompting immediate action.

Authorities have already begun issuing notices to such beneficiaries, asking them to respond before April 30. If there is no reply within the deadline, the government will cancel the allotment and reassign the houses to eligible families. The move aims to ensure that only genuine beneficiaries continue to receive the benefits of the housing schemes.

During a high level review meeting held at the Secretariat in Hyderabad, Housing and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy directed officials to maintain complete transparency in the allocation process. He clearly stated that only deserving families should be selected, without any political influence affecting decisions.

The government is also planning inspections starting May 1 for houses allotted under double bedroom housing and Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission schemes. Beneficiaries who respond to notices must submit a written assurance on bond paper confirming that they are residing in the allotted houses. Failure to comply will lead to cancellation.

At the same time, the government is accelerating efforts to complete unfinished housing units. Officials have been instructed to ensure that all basic amenities such as electricity, drinking water, and drainage facilities are provided without delay. Special focus has been placed on installing electricity meters for around 22000 houses on priority.

The first phase of the Indiramma Houses scheme is being implemented across Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, and Medchal Malkajgiri districts. Authorities have also been asked to identify land carefully in urban areas, ensuring that the livelihoods of the poor are not affected.

In addition, the government has decided to auction commercial complexes built within housing colonies instead of renting them out. The revenue generated from these auctions will be deposited into a joint account managed by the community and the government.

With strict monitoring, faster construction, and firm rules against misuse, the Telangana government is pushing to make the Indiramma Houses and double bedroom housing schemes more effective and transparent for deserving citizens.
