- Chicken supply disruption likely across state
Chicken shop owners across Telangana have decided to shut down their businesses from April 1, raising concerns over supply disruptions and price fluctuations. The move comes as traders protest against what they describe as unsustainable profit margins offered by poultry companies.
According to the association, rising costs of feed and transportation have made operations increasingly difficult. Despite these expenses going up, commissions paid to retailers have reportedly been reduced, leaving many shop owners struggling to cover daily costs.
The issue has triggered visible protests in parts of Hyderabad, including Uppal and LB Nagar, where shopkeepers have displayed posters highlighting their grievances. Traders say continuing business under current conditions is no longer viable.
The association has urged the government to step in and hold discussions with poultry companies to address the pricing imbalance. They argue that unilateral decisions by suppliers are pushing small business owners into losses.
If the bandh goes ahead as planned, consumers are likely to face immediate impact. A sudden halt in supply could lead to higher prices in the market and create shortages for households, restaurants and food businesses.
Shop owners have made it clear that they will not reopen until their concerns are addressed. They are also appealing to the public for support, stating that the protest is necessary to ensure fair and sustainable business conditions.
