The Telangana government has unveiled an ambitious development plan for the famous Bhadrachalam Temple, allocating Rs 586 crore to transform both the temple and the surrounding town in a phased manner.
The project will be executed in three stages, with the first phase already receiving Rs 351 crore in funding. Officials confirmed that work is expected to begin this year, focusing on improving infrastructure and enhancing facilities for devotees.
As part of the initial phase, priority will be given to the development of Godavari ghats, expansion of the temple premises, and overall improvement of basic amenities. Out of the allocated funds, Rs 75 crore has been earmarked for ghats, Rs 180 crore for temple development, and Rs 96 crore for surrounding infrastructure.
The plan aims to give the temple a new identity while preserving its spiritual importance. Authorities have stated that all works will be carried out in accordance with traditional guidelines, ensuring that the sanctity of the temple is maintained.
In the second phase, development activities will be taken up in areas surrounding the temple, while the third phase will focus on the comprehensive development of Bhadrachalam town. Officials believe that the project will boost tourism and strengthen the local economy.
The initiative comes after years of announcements that remained largely on paper due to technical and land-related challenges. Earlier proposals, including plans to develop the temple on the lines of Yadadri, did not progress as expected.
After coming to power, the current government treated the project as a priority. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had earlier assured comprehensive development during his visit, and the recent fund allocation reflects that commitment.
Officials and leaders have expressed confidence that this large-scale project will enhance the spiritual and cultural prominence of Bhadrachalam while providing better facilities for thousands of devotees who visit the temple every year.
