Chicken shop owners across Telangana have decided to shut down their businesses from April 1, raising concerns over supply disruptions for consumers. The decision was taken after growing dissatisfaction among traders regarding declining profit margins and increasing operational costs.

The issue gained momentum following a meeting held at Ghatkesar Gurukul College ground, where several chicken centre operators gathered to discuss their challenges. During the meeting, representatives including Sabhapathi and Khaja alleged that poultry companies were unfairly reducing margins without prior discussion.

Traders expressed that running chicken shops has become increasingly difficult as expenses such as rent, electricity bills and employee wages continue to rise. They claimed that the unilateral decisions taken by poultry companies on pricing and commissions have severely impacted their livelihoods.

According to the shop owners, the reduced margins have made it almost impossible to sustain business operations. They made it clear that the protest will continue until poultry companies revise the margins and ensure fair treatment.

The bandh is expected to be observed by chicken shops across the state, leading to inconvenience for consumers who depend on regular poultry supply. Shop owners have reiterated that they will not call off the protest until their demands are addressed.
