In a significant judicial development, the Supreme Court Collegium has approved the promotion of four additional judges of the Telangana High Court as permanent judges, marking an important step in strengthening the state judiciary.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, where the Collegium reviewed pending recommendations and cleared key appointments across multiple High Courts.
The judges approved for elevation include Justice Yara Renuka Justice Nandikonda Narsing Rao Justice E Tirumala Devi and Justice BR Madhusudhan Rao. All four have been serving as additional judges and will now take on full time responsibilities as permanent members of the bench.
This move is expected to enhance judicial efficiency and reduce case pendency in the Telangana High Court by strengthening its bench strength. Legal experts view the elevation as a positive step toward ensuring faster delivery of justice.
In addition to the Telangana appointments, the Collegium has also recommended new judicial appointments in other states. Two women advocates have been proposed for judgeship in the Kerala High Court, reflecting a continued push for greater representation in the judiciary.
Furthermore, the Collegium has cleared the appointment of three judicial officers as judges of the Karnataka High Court, indicating a broader effort to strengthen judicial infrastructure across regions.
All the recommendations made by the Collegium will now be forwarded to the central government for final approval. Once cleared, official notifications will be issued to formalize the appointments.
The latest decisions underline the ongoing efforts to reinforce the judicial system with experienced professionals while maintaining balance and efficiency across High Courts in the country.
