Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed strong displeasure over traffic disruptions caused to commuters during his travel movement and instructed police officials to ensure that the public does not suffer because of VIP convoy arrangements.
The Chief Minister reportedly became upset after witnessing long traffic jams near the Hyderabad airport while he was leaving for Delhi. He immediately instructed Director General of Police CV Anand to take corrective measures and prevent similar situations in the future.
Revanth Reddy made it clear that ordinary citizens should not be forced to wait on roads for extended periods simply because a Chief Minister’s convoy is passing through the area. He directed officials not to completely stop vehicles moving in opposite directions during convoy movement.
The Chief Minister also ordered strict action against officers found negligent in traffic management duties. According to officials, he stressed that public convenience must remain the top priority while implementing security protocols.
Following the Chief Minister’s instructions, DGP CV Anand conducted a video conference with police commissioners across Telangana and discussed steps needed to improve traffic regulation and convoy movement planning.
The DGP acknowledged that the issue had become serious enough for the Chief Minister to repeatedly raise concerns about it. He informed officials that the state government is planning to establish a dedicated Traffic Bureau under the supervision of an Additional DGP to strengthen traffic management systems across Telangana.
Police officials were instructed to avoid complete traffic blockades during VIP movements and instead allow vehicles to move in a controlled single lane wherever possible. Authorities were also asked to prepare alternative traffic routes in advance, especially during peak congestion hours.
Special attention has reportedly been directed towards airport surrounding areas, where traffic volume remains consistently high. Officials were told to remain highly alert and ensure smoother movement for both commuters and emergency vehicles.
The latest developments come amid increasing public complaints over long traffic restrictions during convoy movements in Hyderabad and other major cities in the state.
