  • Rs 1100 crore education development works launched
  • Integrated schools and teacher recruitment prioritized

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said the state government is giving top priority to the education sector and personally monitoring the department to ensure long term reforms and better opportunities for students.

Speaking at the inauguration of Education Week celebrations held under the Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika programme at LB Stadium in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister announced that development works worth Rs 1100 crore related to the education sector are being launched across the state.

Revanth Reddy stated that education remains the strongest tool for bringing social change and improving the future of economically weaker sections. He said the government is committed to providing quality education to every student studying in government institutions.

Highlighting recent measures taken by the government, the Chief Minister said over 11000 teacher posts were filled soon after the Congress government came to power. He added that recruitment examinations were completed within 60 days and appointment letters were issued without unnecessary delay.

The Chief Minister also pointed out that nearly 36000 teachers were transferred in a transparent manner without major disputes. According to him, Telangana currently has around 27000 schools with nearly 19 lakh students studying in them.

He expressed concern over government schools lagging behind private institutions in academic performance and said the system needs structural reforms. The state government plans to increase education department funding to 15 percent based on commission recommendations.

As part of efforts to improve teaching standards, Revanth Reddy said 25 teachers were sent to Finland to study international education models. He added that more teachers may be sent to other countries to understand global best practices and implement suitable methods in Telangana schools.

The government is also working on improving student nutrition in government schools. Along with the existing midday meal programme, a breakfast scheme has been introduced on a pilot basis in selected schools.

The Chief Minister said outdated syllabus patterns and the absence of a proper Ten Plus Two structure have contributed to higher dropout rates after Class 10. He also criticized the practice of separate residential schools based on caste categories, saying such systems increase social divisions.

To encourage social equality among students, the government has decided to establish integrated schools where children from all communities can study together. Revanth Reddy said government schools should become institutions that shape the future of the country.
