Fear spread across Hyderabad’s BN Reddy Nagar area after a young boy was seriously injured in a brutal stray dog attack at Teachers Colony on Monday evening.
The child, identified as Advik from Siddipet district, had come to Hyderabad to spend his summer holidays at his relatives’ house in the colony. According to local residents, the boy was playing in the cellar area of the apartment building when a group of nearly ten stray dogs suddenly attacked him.
Before nearby people could rush to help, the dogs allegedly inflicted severe injuries on the child. Residents said the attack was extremely violent and left the boy bleeding heavily.
Family members immediately shifted Advik to Kamineni Hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors treating the child stated that he suffered critical injuries, including deep wounds on the head, and is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.
The incident has created panic among residents of Teachers Colony, many of whom said they had repeatedly complained to authorities about the growing number of stray dogs in the locality.
Locals accused GHMC officials of failing to respond despite earlier warnings and complaints regarding stray dog movement in residential areas. Residents expressed anger, saying the negligence of civic authorities has now put a child’s life in danger.
The shocking incident once again sparked public debate in Hyderabad over stray dog control measures and the safety of children in residential neighbourhoods across the city.
