Farmers in the Amaravati capital region have received a significant boost after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu announced a combination of financial relief measures and enhanced annual payments.
During a detailed meeting with farmers from Tadikonda and Pedakurapadu constituencies, the Chief Minister assured that those contributing land for the second phase of land pooling would be supported with improved benefits. He confirmed that annual lease payments would be increased to forty thousand rupees per acre and will continue for a period of ten years.
In addition to this, the government has decided to raise the annual lease amount by three thousand rupees every year, offering a gradual increase in income for participating farmers. Another major announcement included the waiver of agricultural loans up to one and a half lakh rupees per farmer family, bringing immediate financial relief.
The discussions, which extended late into the night at the camp office, reflected growing engagement between the government and farmers. Around seventy farmers participated and placed several demands, including higher lease payments and loan waivers, many of which have now been accepted.
The Chief Minister emphasized that no farmer who contributes land for the capital would face injustice. He urged farmers to actively participate in the land pooling process and described them as key stakeholders in building a world class capital city at Amaravati.
Drawing comparisons, he pointed out how Hyderabad evolved into a major urban center, with land values increasing significantly over time. He expressed confidence that Amaravati would see even greater development with support from the central government and proper legal backing.
While some farmers raised concerns regarding land allocation and location preferences, no immediate assurances were given on those specific requests. However, the overall response among farmers remained positive, with many expressing satisfaction over the increased lease payments and loan waiver benefits.
The announcements are expected to accelerate the land pooling process and strengthen confidence among farmers as the state moves forward with its plans to develop Amaravati into a modern capital city.
