In a significant relief to APSRTC employees, the Andhra Pradesh government has released long pending funds under the Staff Retirement Benefit Scheme, ensuring that thousands of workers receive their due savings. The move comes after continuous demands from employee unions seeking clarity and settlement of contributions made over the years.
A total amount of seventy five crore has been sanctioned and credited directly into the bank accounts of around eight thousand five hundred employees. Each beneficiary has received an amount ranging from ninety thousand to one lakh, depending on their individual contributions under the scheme.
The SRBS scheme was earlier discontinued after the merger of APSRTC into the state government, leaving many employees uncertain about their accumulated savings. Responding to the concerns, APSRTC management took up the issue with the government, which led to the approval and release of the funds.
The beneficiaries include employees who are set to retire between June this year and May two thousand thirty. With this payment, the government has cleared a major portion of pending financial commitments, bringing relief to workers who had been waiting for years.
Employee unions have welcomed the decision and expressed gratitude to the state leadership and officials for addressing the issue promptly. They said the release of funds reflects the government’s commitment to employee welfare and financial security.
This move is part of a broader effort by the Andhra Pradesh government to settle pending dues of employees and pensioners. Recently, large scale payments including gratuity and leave encashment bills were also cleared, with funds being released in phases based on availability.
With continued focus on clearing arrears, the government aims to strengthen trust among employees while ensuring timely financial support to those in service and those approaching retirement.
