BENGALURU, February 8 – Villagers in Ballakere, near the Tamil Nadu border, were left in shock and anger after a 58-year-old man, Venkatesh, was killed in a sudden elephant attack. The incident has sparked widespread outrage among residents who accused forest department officials of negligence.
In a show of protest, villagers from Gummalapura blocked a local road, placing the victim’s body in the middle of the street to draw attention to their demands. They insisted that the authorities provide compensation and support to Venkatesh’s bereaved family.
According to local reports, the attack occurred near Ballakere village, which borders Tamil Nadu. Venkatesh was reportedly working in or traveling through the area when the wild elephant charged, leaving him fatally injured on the spot.
The villagers expressed frustration over repeated wildlife incidents in the area and called for stronger preventive measures to protect residents from such attacks. They demanded accountability from the forest department and urged officials to implement immediate safety protocols.
