First Phase of Bengaluru Business Corridor to Finish in 18 Months
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said the Bengaluru Business Corridor first phase will be completed within eighteen months while landowners receive compensation packages including cash commercial plots and transfer rights

Bengaluru: The first stretch of the much awaited Bengaluru Business Corridor project is expected to be ready within the next eighteen months, Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar said after reviewing progress with officials. He expressed confidence that the timeline would be maintained to ease the city’s growing traffic burden.
Addressing reporters after a meeting with the Bengaluru Development Authority, he noted that compensation for land acquired along the northern and southern corridors is already being processed. Cheques, certificates and tax related documents have been handed over to several property owners.
According to the government, multiple compensation options were offered to those who gave up land for the project. While some landowners chose direct cash payments, others opted for developed commercial plots amounting to thirty five percent of their surrendered land. Authorities said the aim was to provide flexible choices rather than a one size solution.
Officials added that in many cases, compensation exceeded the prevailing market rate. Properties falling under specific limits received up to three times the market value, while assets within the Greater Bengaluru region were offered double the market value. The move is intended to encourage voluntary participation and reduce disputes.
So far, more than six hundred fifty landowners have reportedly agreed to hand over land for the corridor, and over four hundred have already received their payments. Instructions have also been issued to release transfer of development rights within ten days to address pending concerns.
The Business Corridor is designed to streamline north south connectivity, speed up commercial activity and support Bengaluru’s economic growth. Once completed, officials believe the project will significantly cut travel time and offer long term relief to daily commuters across the city.
