Karnataka: Meat Found Inside Temple Premises Sparks Anger in Ballari

Tension gripped Ballari after a packet of meat was discovered inside a prominent temple premises early morning, prompting protests from devotees, police deployment and an investigation into possible mischief

Karnataka, Ballari: Early morning prayers at a well known temple in Ballari took an unsettling turn when priests noticed a plastic packet lying near the shrine area. On closer inspection, they found pieces of meat inside, triggering shock and concern among those present.

The discovery was reported around 5.30 am at the Bal Anjaneya Swamy temple complex in the Nagalakere locality. The packet had allegedly been thrown near the Garuda pillar in front of the Venkateshwara Swamy shrine located behind the main temple, a spot frequently visited by devotees.

Word spread quickly through the neighbourhood and within minutes hundreds of people gathered outside the premises. Several Hindu organisations and local leaders rushed to the spot, demanding strict action and calling it an attempt to hurt religious sentiments. Many insisted the act appeared deliberate rather than accidental.

Police teams reached the area soon after receiving information and began a preliminary inspection. Officers registered a case and started collecting evidence to trace how the packet ended up inside the temple compound. To avoid any disturbance, additional personnel were deployed and security around the shrine was tightened.

Some residents argued that stray animals could not have placed the packet so neatly, raising suspicions of human involvement. Others urged calm and asked authorities to conduct a fair and transparent probe before drawing conclusions. The debate reflected both anger and anxiety among long time devotees who described the temple as a historic and sacred place where festivals are celebrated every year.

Senior police officials appealed to the public not to spread rumours or exaggerate the issue. They assured that the matter would be investigated thoroughly and that anyone found responsible would face legal action. The case has been registered at the local police station and further inquiry is underway to establish the facts.
