Adilabad Police Bust Fake Birth Certificate and Aadhaar Racket

Police in Adilabad arrested five people for allegedly creating fake birth certificates Aadhaar cards and voter IDs using digital editing tools to cheat innocent citizens.

Adilabad police uncovered a fake document racket involving forged birth certificates, Aadhaar cards and voter identity cards, leading to the arrest of five people accused of cheating the public.

The fraud came to light after a birth certificate submitted by an individual was found missing from official municipal records. Following a complaint filed by Municipal Council Commissioner A Jagadeeshwar Goud, police registered a case and launched an investigation into the suspected illegal activity.

Acting on information that fake birth certificates were being prepared near a nationalised bank on Dasnapur Road, police formed a special investigation team under the supervision of District Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan.

The team, led by Inspector K Swamy, arrested five accused identified as O Ravikumar, Abdul Tanveer, Shaik Ameer, Abdul Mujahid and Adapa Santosh. Police said another suspect named Junaid is currently absconding.

During the investigation, officials found that the accused allegedly used mobile phones and PDF editing applications to prepare fake government documents and alter existing identity records. Authorities said the group charged people between Rs 1,500 and Rs 3,000 per document by promising quick access to government scheme benefits.

Police seized mobile phones containing more than 280 digital files along with fake voter identity cards and forged birth certificates during the raids.

Officials warned the public to obtain important documents such as birth certificates only through municipal offices or authorised Mee Seva centres. Police also advised citizens not to trust individuals who demand money while promising fast document preparation.

Authorities further stated that using forged government documents is a punishable offence and such documents could be rejected during future verification procedures. Residents were urged to immediately report any suspicious document related activities to nearby police stations or government offices.
