The Bharat Rashtra Samithi has strengthened its position in local bodies by securing control of both Ibrahimpatnam in Rangareddy district and Kyathanpalli municipality in Mancherial district. The results reflect the party’s continued influence in municipal governance across the state.
In Ibrahimpatnam, Tekula Sudarshan Reddy was elected as the chairman, while BJP councillor Muthyala Shyamala secured the vice chairperson post. The outcome highlights cross party dynamics in local governance, even as BRS retained overall control of the municipality.
Similarly, in Kyathanpalli, the BRS emerged victorious with its candidate Sandhya Rani elected as chairperson. The vice chairperson position was won by CPI candidate Saritha. Congress councillors stayed away from the election process, which influenced the final outcome in the municipality.
While BRS celebrated its victories in these regions, tensions were reported in Khanapur during the chairperson election. Heated arguments broke out among councillors, leading to a chaotic situation at the venue.
The situation escalated when disagreements between elected representatives intensified, resulting in verbal clashes. Reports also indicate that Congress councillors and an MLA were involved in arguments with officials during the proceedings.
The developments in these municipalities underline the competitive political environment at the local level, with alliances and conflicts shaping election outcomes. Authorities are expected to review the incidents in Khanapur and ensure smooth conduct of future proceedings.
