The self enumeration phase of the national census has officially begun in Telangana, marking the first such exercise in the state since its formation. Citizens are being encouraged to submit their details through the official online portal as part of the data collection process.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy addressed growing concerns among the public, firmly stating that sharing personal information will not affect any welfare schemes. He dismissed circulating rumours and assured that all submitted data would remain confidential and protected under the law.

The launch of the process saw participation from several prominent leaders, including the Governor, Chief Minister, and senior officials, who completed their own enumeration online. Authorities emphasized that public cooperation is essential for accurate and efficient data collection.

Highlighting the importance of the census, the minister explained that it plays a key role in shaping development policies, infrastructure planning, and employment strategies. He noted that the exercise goes beyond numbers and helps governments understand the needs of different regions.

Meanwhile, officials also pointed to the ongoing voter list revision process, stating that correcting errors and removing duplicate entries could improve voter turnout, particularly in urban areas where participation has been relatively low.

The self enumeration window will remain open until May 10. Following this, field enumerators will begin door to door data collection from May 11 to June 9, ensuring that no household is left out of the process.

Authorities have urged people to actively take part in the exercise without hesitation, stressing that accurate data will contribute to better governance and future planning.
