February Heatwave Signals Early Summer Surge Across Telangana

The early heatwave across Telangana has pushed temperatures above normal in February prompting weather officials to warn of harsher summer days ahead and advise people to take precautions statewide safety

  • Temperatures are rising earlier than usual this year.
  • Several districts are already recording above normal heat.
  • Experts advise caution hydration and limited outdoor exposure.

Telangana is witnessing an unusual rise in temperatures much earlier than expected with February itself bringing intense heat across several districts. After weeks of mild winter conditions the sudden shift has left residents feeling the strain of rising daytime temperatures and warm nights.

Over the past few days maximum temperatures have steadily climbed reaching between 33 and 34.3 degrees Celsius in many areas. Districts such as Mahabubnagar Nalgonda Adilabad and Khammam have recorded readings about a degree higher than seasonal averages while nights are also turning increasingly humid.

Weather experts note that heat intensity usually builds up from March but this year the sun has begun showing its strength by the second week of February. From late morning until mid afternoon the heat is peaking causing discomfort and increasing reliance on coolers and air conditioners.

Officials from the Hyderabad weather centre said a low pressure area over the Sri Lanka region may bring light to moderate showers in parts of the state around February 18 or later. However they cautioned that overall summer conditions are expected to be harsher with temperatures likely to stay one to one point five degrees above normal.

Doctors and experts are advising people to take precautions as heat levels rise. Avoiding outdoor activity during peak hours staying hydrated and wearing light cotton clothing are among the key measures suggested to prevent heat related health issues.
