- GHMC split into three corporations by Revanth Government decision.
- Cyberabad and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporations formed with new commissioners.
- GHMC restructuring aims to improve urban governance and service delivery.
The Revanth Government has taken a significant administrative step by reorganising the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation into three separate civic bodies. The decision marks one of the biggest structural changes in Hyderabad urban governance in recent years.
Under the new arrangement, GHMC will now function as three independent corporations namely Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation. The state government has issued formal orders and appointed commissioners for each corporation to ensure smooth implementation.
RV Karnan will continue as Commissioner of GHMC, while Srujana has been appointed Commissioner of Cyberabad Municipal Corporation and Vinay Krishna Reddy will head Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation. Special Secretary Jayesh Ranjan will serve as Special Officer overseeing the three corporations.
The existing GHMC head office will continue to function as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation office. The Greater Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation office will operate from the Tarnaka HUDA complex, while the Greater Cyberabad Municipal Corporation office will function from the NAC building in Madhapur.
The restructuring also outlines ward distribution. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will have 150 wards. Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation will consist of 74 wards, while Cyberabad Municipal Corporation will have 76 wards.
The GHMC corporation will cover zones such as Khairatabad, Secunderabad, Golconda, Charminar, Shamshabad and Rajendranagar along with surrounding areas including Bandlaguda Jagir, Badangpet, Tukkuguda and Meerpet.
Cyberabad Municipal Corporation will include Kukatpally, Serilingampally and Qutbullapur zones along with fast growing suburbs like Narsingi, Manikonda, Tellapur, Nizampet, Kompally and Medchal.
Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation will cover zones such as Malkajgiri, Uppal and LB Nagar along with Boduppal, Ghatkesar, Nagaram, Jawaharnagar and nearby areas.
Officials believe that dividing GHMC into three corporations will make civic administration more responsive and efficient. With Hyderabad expanding rapidly, the government aims to improve infrastructure planning, service delivery and accountability at the local level.
The decision is expected to have a direct impact on urban governance, municipal services and future development planning in the state capital and surrounding regions.
