Hyderabad: In a strong enforcement drive, GHMC has taken strict action against property tax defaulters by sealing several commercial buildings across the city. The move comes after repeated notices were ignored by property owners who failed to clear long pending dues.
Officials carried out inspections in key areas including Khairatabad, Goshamahal and Jubilee Hills, identifying properties with significant outstanding tax amounts. Several prominent establishments, including hotels, colleges and business centers, were sealed as part of the crackdown.
Authorities said the action is already prompting some owners to come forward and clear their dues, which had accumulated over several years. The civic body emphasized that strict measures will continue against those who fail to comply.
GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan stated that property owners still have an opportunity to settle their dues under the ongoing one time settlement scheme. The scheme offers up to 90 percent interest rebate, but is available only until the end of March. He urged defaulters to take advantage of this window and avoid further action.
Alongside enforcement, officials also reviewed public complaints received through Prajavani. Around 52 complaints related to sanitation, illegal constructions and property tax issues were registered, and the administration assured timely resolution.
Meanwhile, Cyberabad Municipal Commissioner Srujana issued clear instructions to officials to resolve public grievances within the stipulated time. She warned that negligence or delays in addressing complaints would lead to disciplinary action.
She also stressed that applications related to birth and death certificates, building permissions and tax related issues must be processed without delay. Authorities will conduct regular monitoring to ensure accountability and transparency.
With these measures, GHMC aims to strengthen revenue collection while improving civic services and administrative efficiency across Hyderabad.
