The Telangana government has stepped up surveillance to ensure ration supplies reach beneficiaries without leakage across Greater Hyderabad. With a significant increase in new ration cards, the Civil Supplies Department has put a robust monitoring and grievance system in place to address service lapses quickly.
After coming to power, the Telangana Government resumed issuing new ration cards through Praja Palana applications, ending a long pause in fresh approvals. This move led to a sharp rise in beneficiaries within the city, prompting authorities to tighten oversight of distribution at fair price shops.
To manage the expanded coverage, the Civil Supplies Department has intensified inspections and tracking. Officials are closely watching supply chains to prevent diversion of essential commodities and ensure timely monthly distribution to all cardholders.
Within the Greater Hyderabad, the core city falls under the Chief Rationing Officer, while areas in Rangareddy Medchal and Sangareddy districts continue under their respective district civil supplies offices. Despite the city’s reorganisation into three municipal corporations, the ration distribution structure remains unchanged to ensure continuity.
Currently, the number of ration cards across the three corporations has reached 15.71 lakh, covering about 57.69 lakh beneficiaries who receive essential supplies every month. Alongside increased vigilance at ration shops, authorities have opened multiple channels for the public to report complaints and seek quick resolution.
Beneficiaries can register service related complaints by calling 1967 or 1800 425 00333, submitting details on the Prajavani website, filing online complaints on the Civil Supplies portal, visiting the Civil Supplies Bhavan at Erramanzil, or approaching the CRO or district civil supplies offices directly.
