Telangana is experiencing a sharp rise in temperatures, with heatwave conditions intensifying across the state. According to the India Meteorological Department, temperatures are currently running four to five degrees above normal, causing discomfort to people from early morning hours.
The department has issued an orange alert for 16 districts, warning of severe heat conditions over the next two days. Districts including Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Warangal are expected to witness temperatures ranging between 41 and 44 degrees Celsius, with hot winds adding to the distress.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been sounded for several other regions such as Hyderabad and Rangareddy, where temperatures are likely to hover between 36 and 40 degrees Celsius. The intense heat, especially during afternoon hours, has made daily life difficult for residents.
Despite the prevailing heatwave, weather officials have also indicated a shift in conditions due to changes in wind patterns. This could bring thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 40 kilometers per hour in some areas over the next five days.
On April 24, districts like Khammam, Mulugu and Bhadradri Kothagudem are expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall at isolated places. Further, forecasts suggest that by April 28, most parts of the state may witness rainfall activity, offering some relief from the scorching temperatures.
Cities including Hyderabad, Medchal and Vikarabad could see moderate to heavy showers in the coming days. While the heatwave continues to dominate, the possibility of rain has raised hopes for a temporary break from the extreme weather conditions.
