HMDA Expansion Approved as Telangana Cabinet Adds Four New Villages

The Telangana government has expanded the HMDA limits by adding four villages in Vikarabad district strengthening metropolitan planning and infrastructure growth under the Hyderabad expansion strategy.

The Telangana government has taken another decisive step in expanding Hyderabad metropolitan planning by bringing four additional villages under the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority. The decision was approved at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, reflecting the state focus on planned urban growth.

With the latest inclusion, the total number of revenue villages under Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has risen to 1359. The newly added villages are Chittiguda and Yavapur from Nawabpet mandal and Tekulapalli and Enkathala from Mominpet mandal in Vikarabad district.

Officials said the expansion is aligned with the government broader vision to manage Hyderabad rapid outward growth. Alongside Hyderabad Secunderabad and Cyberabad the state is also developing Bharat Future City in the southern corridor near Meerkhanpet spread across nearly thirty thousand acres.

HMDA jurisdiction now covers eleven districts one hundred and four mandals and more than thirteen hundred villages. The authority total planning area has grown significantly over the years reaching more than ten thousand square kilometres after a major expansion approved last year.

During the same cabinet meeting several key urban projects received clearance. Land was transferred to the defence department in Kapra mandal in exchange for parcels used in elevated corridor construction while the second phase of the Comprehensive Road Maintenance Programme was also approved.

The government believes the expanded HMDA limits will help improve infrastructure coordination regulate development and attract long term investments across the Hyderabad metropolitan region.
