A major Hyderabad MBBS seat scam has come to light after a well known 44 year old gynaecologist was allegedly cheated by an education consultancy that promised a guaranteed medical seat for her son. The case has now been taken up for detailed investigation by the Central Crime Station.
According to police officials, the doctor came across an attractive advertisement on Facebook that claimed assured MBBS admissions through NEET counselling. Trusting the claims, she contacted a consultancy firm operating from Ameerpet. Representatives reportedly built confidence by assuring her that her son’s admission in a private medical college was certain.
The consultancy initially collected five lakh rupees as a service charge. Later, on November 20 2025, they informed her that an MBBS seat had been confirmed at a private medical college in LB Nagar. Believing the process was complete, she transferred an additional 13.9 lakh rupees. However, suspicion arose when the allotment letter provided to her was found to be fake.
When the doctor realized she had been deceived, she approached the consultancy seeking a refund. She alleged that the firm delayed repayment with repeated excuses. With no resolution in sight, she filed a complaint at Madhuranagar Police Station. The case was subsequently transferred to the Hyderabad Central Crime Station for a deeper probe. Cases have been registered against the operational director, director and other team members.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the same consultancy allegedly collected varying amounts from several other parents, including payments of three lakh, 15.3 lakh, 5.75 lakh, 13 lakh and five lakh rupees. Police suspect the total fraud could be close to 1.15 crore rupees.
Officials have now issued a strong advisory to parents and students, urging them not to trust social media advertisements that promise guaranteed seats or direct admissions. Authorities clarified that MBBS admissions are conducted strictly through official NEET counselling channels and warned that shortcuts often lead to scams.
