  • Hyderabad metro may extend services beyond 11 pm

Amid the ongoing RTC strike in Hyderabad, metro rail services have been ramped up to handle the sudden surge in passenger traffic across the city. With buses off the roads, commuters have turned to the metro in large numbers, prompting authorities to step in with immediate operational changes.

Officials are now also exploring the option of extending metro train services beyond 11 pm to ease late night travel, ensuring that passengers are not left stranded due to limited public transport options.

The increased frequency is clearly visible on major corridors. On the busy Nagole to Raidurg route, trains that usually run at intervals of over five minutes are now operating every three minutes and forty seconds throughout the day, significantly reducing waiting time for commuters.

Similarly, on the Miyapur to LB Nagar corridor, where trains typically run every three minutes forty seconds during peak hours and close to five minutes during non peak hours, services have been standardized to run every four minutes and twenty seconds all day.

Traffic police in Cyberabad confirmed these changes, noting that the move is aimed at managing crowd pressure efficiently while maintaining smooth passenger flow across stations.

The temporary adjustments highlight the crucial role of metro services in Hyderabad’s urban transport system, especially during disruptions like the RTC strike, as thousands rely on it for daily commuting.
