The accused, who once worked in the IT sector, reportedly quit his job after falling into substance abuse. What began as a personal habit eventually led him into illegal cultivation, as he started growing ganja plants on his terrace to earn money.
Based on specific information, excise officials conducted a raid at his house located in the outskirts. During the search, they found multiple ganja plants carefully grown in pots, indicating a planned setup. Authorities seized seventeen plants from the terrace and took the individual into custody.
Officials say the case highlights how individuals with stable careers can slip into illegal activities due to addiction and financial pressure. The accused has been remanded, and further investigation is underway.
In a separate incident, two engineering students were also arrested for allegedly bringing ganja from another state and distributing it among fellow students. Police recovered a quantity of the substance from their possession.
