A heartbreaking incident in Hyderabad has left a community in shock after a woman allegedly killed her two young sons before taking her own life in Musapet.
The tragedy came to light on Tuesday afternoon under the Kukatpally police limits when neighbors grew suspicious after the house remained locked for hours. Upon breaking open the door, they found the woman and her two children hanging inside the house.
The deceased woman, identified as Sravanti, had been living with her sons Karthik and Kaushik in Raghavendra Society. Her husband, Praveen, who works in the construction sector, was reportedly living separately nearby following ongoing marital disputes.
According to locals, tensions in the family had been escalating after Praveen entered into a second marriage about a year ago. Frequent arguments and alleged harassment had been troubling Sravanti, with several attempts made by elders to resolve the conflict.
Just days before the incident, a family meeting was held in their native village where elders advised the couple to stay together. Following this, both returned to Hyderabad on Monday.
However, on Tuesday afternoon, when Praveen returned home for lunch, the door was locked from inside. With no response from Sravanti, neighbors helped force the door open, only to discover the tragic scene.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to understand the circumstances that led to the incident. Authorities are also looking into allegations of harassment and the sequence of events that pushed the family to this devastating end.
The incident has once again raised concerns over domestic stress, mental health, and the urgent need for timely intervention in troubled households.
