Residents in several parts of Hyderabad will experience a disruption in drinking water supply for thirty six hours starting Saturday morning as the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board begins major repair works in the Manjeera Phase Three system.

According to officials, the maintenance work will begin at eight in the morning on March seven and continue until eight in the evening on March eight. During this period, water supply will either be completely stopped or supplied at very low pressure in multiple localities across the city.

The repair works include replacing High Tension electrical panels at the pump house located in Peddapur. Authorities said these panels have been in operation for more than thirty five years and now require replacement to ensure safe and reliable functioning of the pumping system.

Along with the electrical upgrades, engineers will also replace air valves on the sixteen hundred millimetre diameter pumping main pipeline that runs between Peddapur and Singapur. Additional repairs will be carried out on air vents along the two thousand millimetre diameter gravity main pipeline connecting Singapur and Peddapur.

Because of these works, water supply to the Shaikpet reservoir will be completely halted during the maintenance period. Meanwhile the Bhojagutta reservoir will receive water only at reduced pressure.

Several residential areas including Manikonda Kokapet Narsingi and Manchirevula are expected to face a complete interruption in water supply. Officials also confirmed that water distribution under Transmission One and Transmission Two systems will remain suspended until the repair works are completed.

Authorities have advised residents in affected areas to store sufficient drinking water in advance to avoid inconvenience during the repair period. The maintenance work is expected to improve the efficiency and safety of the water supply infrastructure in the long term.
