Jagitial District on Alert as Tiger Movement Triggers Fear in Villages

Fear spread across parts of Jagitial district after reports of a tiger roaming near villages in Kodimyal and Bheemaram mandals. Residents in several habitations have been on high alert following repeated sightings over the past two days.
Forest department officials said the latest movement was noticed near Garata Vagu close to Dammayyapet village on Wednesday. After receiving alerts from locals, teams inspected the nearby forest area and confirmed the presence of tiger paw marks, strengthening concerns about the big cat’s movement.
Authorities have warned people in Dammayyapet and nearby villages including Surampet, Tirumalapur and Sandralapalli to remain cautious. Farmers visiting fields, wells and water sources have been specifically advised not to move alone and to avoid venturing out during early morning or late evening hours.
Meanwhile, in Bheemaram mandal, villagers near Motkur, Ravupet reported spotting the tiger near agricultural lands. The animal reportedly came close to farmers working in fields, forcing them to flee in panic. Forest officials rushed to the area and began ground level monitoring to track the animal’s movement.
Officials said constant surveillance is underway and precautionary steps are being taken to prevent any harm. Residents have been asked to immediately inform authorities if the tiger is spotted again and to follow safety instructions until the situation stabilizes.
